A notice sheet is a public page, so we keep its rules short and pin them where anyone can read them. This note says what the sheet collects, what it refuses to collect, and how it handles the record it reads.

What the sheet collects

The sheet keeps no account, sets no tracker of its own and asks a reader for nothing. These pages are served as flat files, the same printed sheet to every reader, with no login window and no reading profile kept behind the counter. The host that serves the site keeps the ordinary technical logs of any press: the address a request came from, the page asked for and the time. Those logs are what keep the machine running. No advertiser's tag rides on the page either; the sheet keeps no space for one. We read our notes, not our visitors.

What a letter carries

A letter to the board carries whatever its writer put in it: a message and an address to answer at. We keep both for as long as the reply takes, then let them go. They are not filed, not lent, not sold and not shared outside the board, because the only use the sheet has for a reader's address is writing back to it. If a letter holds something private that the reply does not need, the reply does not keep it.

The record we read

The notes are read against public sources: tenancy acts, city guides, association papers, printed columns and the documents the hunt left behind. Every source a note rests on is named at the foot of it. What the sheet does not do is reprint people: no private person's name and no personal detail is carried from the record onto the page. The address itself has a history; a working listings portal lived here before the sheet did, with apartments posted province by province and town by town, and we do not pass our notes off as its work. A reader who arrives by an old address is shown to the column that covers the subject now.

When the rules change

If the way the sheet is kept changes, this page changes with it, and the change is dated at the foot of the note. The version on the pinboard is always the version that applies. A question about these rules goes to the same board as everything else: [email protected].
